Year 5 pupils at Magdalene House, Wisbech Grammar’s Prep School, practised their French, German and Spanish this week at the School’s annual Language Festival.
The younger pupils were guided by Sixth Form Languages pupils whom have entered into the School’s ‘Language Leaders’ programme, which allows them to learn the basics of foreign language teaching.
During the festival, pupils played a variety of foreign language games such as dominoes, bingo, blindfold and karaoke and enjoyed a pretend French café where they were able to order chocolat chaud and a pain au chocolat or a croissant.
Head of Lower School Languages, Mr Jestin said: “The Language Festival was a fantastic opportunity for pupils to enjoy languages in a relaxed setting. All of the pupils made excellent progress during the course of the morning and it was lovely to see the Sixth Form pupils helping the younger ones.”
Wisbech Grammar School is hosting another Language Festival on Friday 3 February which is aimed at all Year 5 pupils from other local schools, no prior knowledge of languages is necessary.
