Sam Martin (Wisbech), a year 11 pupil at Wisbech Grammar School, has been selected to attend the esteemed National Mathematics Summer School. Only pupils who are among the top 1.5% of scorers in the Intermediate Mathematical Challenge are selected – Sam achieved Gold.
They are designed for young people with outstanding mathematics ability. They aim to promote mathematical thinking and provide an opportunity for participants to meet other students and adults who enjoy mathematics.
The summer school, arranged by the United Kingdom Mathematics Trust, is being led by James Gazet, Head of the Mathematics Department at prestigious Eton College.
Other pupils who achieved Gold in the Intermediate Mathematics Challenge are: Ben Hamilton (King’s Lynn) in Year 11, James Pearson (Hunstanton) in Year 10 and noteworthy for achieving Gold from Year 9, Shravan Sharma (King’s Lynn) and Joseph Kooreman (Wisbech).
The next challenge, the Junior Mathematics Challenge for Prep and Lower School pupils, will be held on 27 April.
