Wisbech Grammar School 1st XI put on an impressive performance against a strong King's Ely team. They opened the scoring when Hannah Lemmon calmly slotted the ball home at the far post
WGS then won a penalty stroke from which Captain Eden Cooper scored. King's Ely replied quickly to make the score 2-1 at halftime.
The WGS forward line produced another good counter-attack which Hannah Lemmon converted. The game was now end to end, with King's Ely expertly scoring from a short corner to make it 3-2. Isabella Oldershaw-Ellis and Asena Yendley were impervious at the back and Hetty Beckett, Eden Cooper and Liu Sim Lim looked threatening throughout the match.
Charlotte Brett then scored a super goal for Wisbech Grammar School making it 4-2 with two minutes remaining. King's Ely raised the tension by scoring again but WGS then took control of the final moments to win an epic, enjoyable encounter by 4 goals to 3.
