Caretaking Staff (Zero hours contract)

We are looking for caretaking staff (zero hours) to working with our Senior Caretaker; this would ideally suit someone who has undertaken a similar role before. Hours may involve working early mornings or early evening finishes as well as working during core school hours.

General duties for caretaking staff include:

Unlocking and locking the site;
Use of security/alarm systems;
On-call rota for alarms (out of hours: evenings, weekends, holiday periods) and providing access to the site out of hours during an emergency;
Setting up of rooms and dining halls for functions;
Preparing school for after-school activities including weekend sport, school and social functions.  Clearing up after such activities and leaving premises ready for the normal school day;
Litter patrols;
Handling deliveries;
Porterage duties;
Car park attendant duties;
Assisting in site security;
Dealing with external hires of school facilities;
Assist Maintenance and Grounds Department when required;
To comply with all Health and Safety at Work requirements as stated by the School;

Knowledge or experience of facilities or estates working

An ability to work flexibly and react the demands of the pace of school life
Effective communications skills and the ability to work with staff at all levels

Head Chef: Term time only

35 weeks a year @ 40 hours with an additional 80 hours – for a salary of £20k a year a pension scheme, fee discounts and a childcare voucher scheme.

Wisbech Grammar School is a prestigious independent School with 530 pupils from the age of 3-18 and over 100 members of staff.

We are looking for a talented Head Chef to work in our modern well-equipped kitchen opened in 2015 within the new build Skelton Hall Refectory. On a school day, the kitchen is responsible for a lunch service of up to 500 covers, as well as offering breakfast, morning break and an afterschool coffee shop. At weekends we provide meals for pupils, visiting sports teams and parents. 

It is important that our staff and pupils are well fed, and so the kitchen is expected to produce food that is local, fresh, interesting and nutritious. We want a new Head Chef that will work alongside our Catering Manager to provide an engaging experience that inspires our pupils to eat well. 

To be successful, you must be used to high volume catering using fresh food, but beyond that, we are looking for someone with excellent technical skills and a thirst for continual improvement tempered by an ability to control the spend per meal.  You must also be a team-player who is an engaging communicator and capable of developing, managing and motivating the kitchen team.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3 years’ experience as a Head Chef, a recognised catering qualification (such as C&G 706/1&2 or NVQ level 3), food safety and H&S certificates.

You will be required to work 40 hours per week over 5 days. The salary will be in the region of £20,000 p.a. + benefits for 35 term time weeks plus 2 additional weeks’ worth of hours. The additional hours will be worked to support sports fixtures and events across the year.   This is a salary that is equivalent to £24,000 a year on a 52-week contract.

The role comes with a defined contribution pension scheme; the employer provides a 5% contribution to match the employee’s 5% contribution. There are also fee discounts for your children and a childcare voucher scheme.

Job-Description - Head Chef 2018

 

Speech and Drama Teacher (1 day per week)

We are looking for a motivational and experienced teacher of the Trinity College, London syllabus for Acting & Speaking and Communication Skills to join our dynamic Performing Arts Faculty from September 2018. 

This is a part-time, term time only, peripatetic position that would ensure that the current self-selecting pupils from both Magdalene House Prep School and Wisbech Grammar Senior School are prepared for their examination at all grades.

Our achievements to date have seen, since establishing the Trinity College, London Speech & Drama provision in September 2016, more than 100 pupils, achieving a 100% pass rate at Grades 2 - 6 examined in various disciplines including Acting, Communication Skills, Musical Theatre, Performing Text, Plays in Production and Speech & Drama. 

The post-holder must be committed to the safeguarding and promotion of the welfare of young people.

Salary is according to Wisbech Grammar School’s own scale.
