Head of Economics and Business

We require an enthusiastic, innovative and dynamic Head of Department to inspire, engage, lead and teach Economics and Business and lead the introduction of BTEC Enterprise and Entrepreneurship from April or September 2019.

The post represents an excellent opportunity for an experienced teacher to share their expertise, love and passion for these subjects at Wisbech Grammar School.

These are popular subject choices for our 6th Formers and in the 2017/18 academic year we saw 100% pass rate in both subjects with Business also being a popular subject choice for university.

All members of the teaching staff are expected to assume a pastoral role within the School and to contribute to the School’s extra-curricular programmes.

Cleaner

We are looking for a Cleaner to join our Cleaning Team. This would ideally suit someone who has undertaken a similar role before. Hours are Monday to Friday 4.30pm – 7.30pm. This is a term time plus 18 days contract.

 

Principle Role

The post involves general cleaning duties in all areas of the school including offices on the 3 floors of Harecroft House, the Music Cottages, the 6th Form Hazel Centre, the Dwight Centre and Science block and other open spaces such as the refectory, halls and reception areas.  

 

Main duties and responsibilities:

Vacuum cleaning carpets and floors using appropriate electrical equipment;

Washing down paintwork, wiping desks;

Sweeping and brushing floors and damp mopping where necessary;

Dusting desks, chairs, ledges, windowsills, skirting boards, venetian blinds;

Cleaning glass doors and mirrors;

Cleaning fittings, taps etc. in toilet and shower areas;

Toilet areas will be cleaned daily and will involve replacing soaps, towels, toilet paper, cleaning drinking fountains and washbasins, disinfecting W.C.’s and urinals and washing floors;

Cleaning areas which require special treatment such as laboratories, technology workshops, computer rooms, sports hall

Buffing polished floors (training will be given and this will be dependent on area being worked)

Deep cleaning as directed in School holidays;

Supporting the cleaning of areas ahead of School functions as required

Other tasks which may be assigned by the Head of Housekeeping and or Cleaning Supervisor from time to time.

Speech and Drama Teacher (1 day per week)

We are looking for a motivational and experienced teacher of the Trinity College, London syllabus for Acting & Speaking and Communication Skills to join our dynamic Performing Arts Faculty from September 2018. 

This is a part-time, term time only, peripatetic position that would ensure that the current self-selecting pupils from both Magdalene House Prep School and Wisbech Grammar Senior School are prepared for their examination at all grades.

Our achievements to date have seen, since establishing the Trinity College, London Speech & Drama provision in September 2016, more than 100 pupils, achieving a 100% pass rate at Grades 2 - 6 examined in various disciplines including Acting, Communication Skills, Musical Theatre, Performing Text, Plays in Production and Speech & Drama. 

The post-holder must be committed to the safeguarding and promotion of the welfare of young people.

Salary is according to Wisbech Grammar School’s own scale.
