Reaching beyond the classroom, a programme of topic-based trips and activities enlivens the curriculum.
Many exciting places are open to explore right on our doorstep, such as Peckover House, Elgood’s Brewery Garden, Wicken Fen, Ely Cathedral, Fitzwilliam Museum, and Amey Cespa Recycling Centre.
Frequently, the outside world is tangibly brought into school. Reception Class receive friendly visits from the police, fire department and local farmers, who of course bring their tractor! The children also benefit from visits to local areas, including Ferry Meadows for Den Building!
In Prep 4, pupils visit Aylmerton for their first residential where they develop geography skills, take part in a twilight safari and engage with a local storyteller. Children learn to work as a team, problem solve and build independence, confidence and self-esteem. Prep 5 & 6 children take residentials to Ufton Court in Berkshire and to York; sporting teams also go on tour. These experiences help nurture our independent, confident children.
