Kate and Peter are both teachers at Wisbech Grammar School and by running this year's Virgin London Marathon on Sunday 23 April 2017 they have already raised £1845 against their £3000 target to help carers and their families all over the world.
Their run time was an impressive 5 hours and 48 minutes but they were hoping to achieve a better time.
Wisbech Grammar School has been very supportive with helping Kate and Peter to raise money which generated £300 from various fundraising events including a pancake sale.
Throughout their work in education they are fully aware of the support carers, especially young carers need and the strain that chronic illness can put on the family members who look after their loved one.
Long term care for people with chronic illnesses and disabilities presents an urgent challenge around the world. The burden placed on unpaid family carers is immense and has a direct impact on their physical health, mental and emotional well being and economic security. Carers Worldwide highlights the vital role played by carers. They advocate for their inclusion in mainstream development programs and the development of carer-specific services
