Sports Update

A good performance all round at the start of the season, with six girls making their debut for the 1st X1 Hockey team in this weekend’s fixtures. The new 1st Form girls and boys also played their first fixtures in the Senior School.

The boys’ 1st XV continuing on from good performances in last weekend's pre-season Festival where they beat Bishops Stortford High School, Robert Clack Academy and Peterborough Rugby Club scoring a stinging win against Wymondham College, with a 31-14 outcome. Ollie Mann scored a hat-trick and the team were enthusiastic from beginning to end.

The girls’ Hockey XI couldn’t match their opponents, Bedford Modern, and came away with a 2-1 defeat. It was an even first half, but Bedford who had played there opening match last week looked sharper in the final quarter, allowing them to score the winning goal when we made a rare defensive lapse.   Other performances from girls’ U15, U14, U13A, and U13B against Bedford Modern saw no wins, although the U15 girls’ match was a thrilling game with a 7-5 outcome, with Isy Pope scoring a hat trick.

The Boys’ U14 Rugby team beat CAARS Grammar School 40 – 35, with Lewis Shipley scoring a hat trick. Unfortunately the U15A, 13A, could match that result, but both teams came on strongly in the second half.

The U12 teams played their first games of Rugby and Hockey this term, with many new pupils making their debut for the School. They showed promise during the matches, which bodes well for the future
