Scientific study of sport is a very lucrative business from professional status to the equally important teaching and fitness sector. We can therefore not negate the impact this industry has on a global scale.
Studying BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma in Sport at WGS will give pupils a diverse look at sport through developing their understanding of Anatomy and Physiology and Fitness training. They will also take a closer look at the professional development within the sports industry and the application of fitness testing. Pupils will be introduced to sports psychology, coaching and performance, organising sporting events as well as Sports leadership which will further enhance their understanding of professional sport.
They will have the opportunity to demonstrate their own practical performance and complete a research project. There is also an option to look at sport injury management and obtain some work experience within the Active Leisure Industry.
This is intended as an Applied General qualification, equivalent in size to three A Levels. It is a two-year, full-time course that meets entry requirements in its own right for learners who want to progress to higher education courses in sport before entering employment.
