The Senior Prefect team at Wisbech Grammar School put on a fundraising event in aid of the Arthur Rank Hospice charity and in particular for the Alan Hudson day treatment centre. The treatment centre supports those with life limiting illnesses and provides care free of charge to help them and their loved ones make every moment count. As a team we wanted to support a local charity and one which had touched many of us in one way or another. The event was organised by the current Deputy Head of School, Alex Clabon, with some help from the current Senior Prefect team. The final figure raised was £430.05 which we’re all very proud of!
The match was played on a sunny March day and drew quite a crowd from within the school. The game was fiercely competitive and was a high scoring encounter with the final score being 10-9 winning via a golden goal. The spectacle was completed with the Senior Deputy Head, Mr T I McConnell-Wood, deciding to wear a netball dress to get into the mood of the day. Ultimately the event wouldn’t have been as successful as it was without the support of the teaching staff and the senior management team and to them I am very grateful (Alex Clabon, U6th)
The cheque was collected by staff nurse Jane Clarke, from the Alan Hudson Day Treatment Centre at North Cambs Hospital.
We are absolutely delighted to receive this cheque for £430.05. We will be using this for the development of our complementary therapy services which reaches over 100 patients and carers locally and is used to enhance quality of life and provide much needed support.
