The School comprises Magdalene House Preparatory School (ages 4-11), Senior School (ages 11-16) and Upper School/6th Form (ages 16-18).  The main entry points are Reception aged 4, 1st Form aged 11, 3rd Form aged 13 and 6th Form aged 16, however, children often join in other year groups and throughout the academic year.  If you would like to discuss entry for your child, please do not hesitate to contact us online, email us or telephone the Admissions Team on 01945 586750.

The key stages of the admissions process:

Complete a formal Enquiry Whether or not you have visited or attended an open event, the first formal step to applying for a place at Wisbech Grammar School is to complete an online Enquiry Form.  This form tells us a bit more about you and your child. Upon receipt of this form, we will contact you to discuss the next stage in the admissions process. This will normally be to attend an open event, but if you have already done that, you will be invited to register your child for admission.
Register for Admission Parents may register using the Registration Form and by paying the Registration Fee of £95. This enables your child to attend a Taster Day and also sit the Entrance Assessment. For parents that may require financial assistance, a Bursary Application Pack may also be requested once registered. We accept payment for registrations by cheque or BACS.
Attend for a Taster Day and Entrance Assessment

Once registered your child can attend a Taster Day with their prospective year group to experience the exciting curriculum and extra-curricular activities on offer.  The Entrance Assessments can be arranged on the same day or on an alternative day.

Our assessments are nothing to worry about and are designed to explore a child's potential.

For early years they are fun, activity based assessments.   For Prep 3 - 6 they are informal, age appropriate computer-based assessments.

In the Senior School, the Assessment comprises Maths and English papers and an interview with the Headmaster.  For 6th Form, places are reserved based on predicted GCSE grades.

Offer of a place Communication regarding whether your child has been successful in their application to the School is within 1 week of undertaking the assessment.
Acceptance On acceptance, both parents and children are included in a comprehensive welcome programme and become part of our School community.

Prospective parents and pupils are assured a warm welcome on tours and at introductory meetings with our Headmaster, Mr Chris Staley, or Senior Deputy Head of the Prep School, Mrs Keryn Neaves.  Those visits can be scheduled at their convenience and can be requested via the Admissions Team pre-registration. We also extend a warm welcome to any prospective families at our Open Events and ‘Explore the School’ sessions.  Please contact the Admissions Team to reserve a place.
