Meet the Senior Leadership Team

Headmaster

Chris Staley

office@wisbechgrammar.com

I arrived at Wisbech Grammar in September 2014 having previously been Deputy Head at Milton Abbey School in Dorset. I was there for four years and had day to day operational running of the School. Before Dorset, I worked for 15 years at Cranleigh School in Surrey and had a number roles including Head of Geography, CCF Officer, 1XV coach, Housemaster and Senior Housemaster. I believe wholeheartedly in an all-round education and have passions outside the classroom for Music, Drama, Art, Sport and Outdoor Education. In my downtime, I love to spend time with my family, in the garden, visiting the cinema (I am a big fan of Marvel) and taking part in adventure-running activities. Lastly, I am also involved with helping to deliver part of the MBA in Education and Leadership at London University.

Bursar

Natalie Miller

bursar@wisbechgrammar.com

I joined Wisbech Grammar School as the Bursar in September 2015. We had always planned for our children to join the Senior School, and it was this personal connection and a personal commitment to the future of the school that led me to join the team.

My career has evolved from management accountancy through business analysis and project management to business leadership. Along the way, I have accumulated experience in both private (McVities, Hotpoint) and the not for profit sector (CITB).

I am working alongside the Headmaster, senior team and Governing Body to formulate the strategy to turn the Headmaster’s vision into reality over the coming years.   This delivery of this task is facilitated and supported by the very capable support staff.

Outside school, when not running around after my family, I am often to found sailing at Snettisham Beach Sailing Club, either on the water or in the bar!

Senior Deputy Head

Tim McConnell-Wood

office@wisbechgrammar.com

I’m a passionate educator who enjoys working with young people and really understands what makes them tick. My career as an Economics and Business Studies teacher goes back some 20 years, mainly based in the South of England but also for a two year stint in Switzerland. I have a very wide range of interests including acting, debating, listening to music, outdoor education and sports coaching having coached Rugby, Football, Netball and Cricket. My claim to fame is that I captained Scottish Universities Rugby when the likes of Will Carling and Gavin Hastings were playing. By birth I am a Northumbrian and so have the misfortune to support Newcastle United. In a previous life I served as a Captain in the Gurkhas and I have a great passion for Military History. I am married with two grown-up children, both of whom studied variants of History at University; my son graduates next year and my daughter graduated recently and works in London.

I was appointed Deputy Head Academic at Wisbech Grammar School in September 2017 following 11 years as Director of Music at St George's College, Weybridge, and three years as Director of Music at Belmont, Mill Hill Prep School. Before starting my teaching career, I was the Parry-Wood Organ Scholar at Exeter College Oxford and also studied at the Royal Academy of Music.  In addition to holding the Fellowship Diploma of the Royal College of Organists (FRCO), in 2013 I was awarded the ARAM, conferred by the Academy for distinguished services to music education. In 2017 I achieved the NPQSL qualification in Senior Leadership, with a particular focus on enabling outstanding teaching to result in exceptional learning, an area which I’m hugely looking forward to leading at Wisbech. When not at school, I am Director of Music at St Mark’s, Hamilton Terrace, NW8, and in my spare time, I enjoy country walking, swimming, and reading crime novels.

Head of Marketing and Admissions

Sandra Taylor

admissions@wisbechgrammar.com

I joined Wisbech Grammar School in March 2017 in the role of Head of Marketing and Admissions. My career has evolved from marketing and management to coaching and mentoring. I have enjoyed working in both the charity and commercial sectors in strategic roles in marketing, PR and branding. Whilst at RNIB I lead a team across product management, design and development, our primary focus was on improving the lives of people with sight loss. I then moved to the care sector in a corporate branding and PR position.

My focus at Wisbech Grammar School will be to build on the great work that the admissions and marketing team are already delivering on and ensure prospective parents and children are supported through their admissions journey. As a parent of two daughters, my passion has always been focused on the well- being and education of young people.

I spend what spare time I have with my family and ferrying my youngest daughter back and forth to the stables.
