MAGDALENE HOUSE PREP SCHOOL PUPILS ENJOY A FLYING VISIT FROM THE RED ARROWS

Pupils at Magdalene House, the Prep School of Wisbech Grammar, enjoyed a flying visit from two of the world famous Red Arrows Pilots, Si Taylor and Emmet Cox, also known as ‘Red 7’ and ‘Red 9’.

The children watched a clip of the Red Arrows in action and learned about how the pilots plan their displays and what it takes to become a pilot in the RAF.

A number of lucky pupils were selected to practise a Red Arrows’ manoeuvre with Prep 6 pupil, Christian Rance (Wisbech), ably taking on the role of “The Boss” and giving out commands.

Prep 4 pupils, Louis Denham (Wisbech) and Chloe Davis (Murrow), had the opportunity to try on Red 9’s helmet and the morning concluded with a very lively question and answer session. The children came up with some fantastic questions including “How do you land if it is cloudy?”, “How are you able to see through the coloured smoke?” and “How big can you make those G-suit trousers go?”

All of the pupils received a pin badge and some Red Arrows memorabilia and were left suitably inspired by Red 9, who, whilst only 5 years old at school dared to dream that one day he might be a pilot!
