20 parents, pupils, past pupils and staff all joined together on Saturday 2 December to make their Christmas cakes.
Having mastered the art of tin lining and surrounded by dried fruits, spices, butter, flour, eggs and a splash of brandy, 20 cake ingredients were quickly beaten together.
Leaving each to slowly cook for three hours, everyone then made two jars of mincemeat ready for the festive season’s mince pies.
After a lunch of roasted vegetable soup with walnut pesto, bread and cheeses, rounded off with banana and chocolate chip pudding accompanied by a toffee sauce, the group set up camp to make door wreaths and table centre-piece decorations. Under the supervision of Mrs Hodgkinson, the group produced beautiful decorations using foliage, dried fruits, ribbons and fairy lights. To end this glorious day, the guests enjoyed warm mincemeat scones before setting off home laden with their wares and ready for Christmas.
