Junior athletes make a great start to the season

Charlie Osborne-Smith won the Boys’ Javelin with 23.54m (an IAPS qualifying distance),

1st and 2nd Form athletes made a great start to the season during their first outing at the Ely Mini Meet on Thursday 4 May. The athletes all performed well with some pupils achieving personal bests and qualifying times and distances for the IAPS Regional Athletic Championships.

In the U14 age group Charlie Osborne-Smith won the Boys’ Javelin with 23.54m (an IAPS qualifying distance), Emily Thomas and Lucy Pealing were joint 1st in the Girls’ Javelin. Felix Young was 1st in the Boys’ 400m with an IAPS qualifying time and 2nd in the Boys’ Long jump with an IAPS qualifying distance. Abby Piccaver and Oliver Coles both achieved the 100m IAPS qualifying time.

Charlotte Beck came 2nd in the Girls’ Long jump and 100m both in IAPS qualifying timesIn the U13 age group Kirsten Barker won the Girls’ Kirsten Barker won the Girls’ 1500m1500m, Oliver Taylor won the Boys’ 1500m in an IAPS qualifying time of 5m44 and Harvey Davies in 3rd place also reached the IAPS qualifying standard. Charlotte Beck came 2nd in the Girls’ Long jump and 100m both in IAPS qualifying times.

 

The Junior Athletes have worked really hard over the first 2 weeks of term and I am extremely proud of them.
