Bright futures ahead for Cricketers in 1st XI

Neil Taylor (Cricket Coach) is bowled over with the WGS cricket season; 6 wins and 1 draw!

1st XI Cricketers completed an unbeaten season with two wins this week; they beat King's Ely on Monday in a 40 over game by 4 wickets, Ollie Mann scored 64 not out, Josh Porter took 3 - 9. On Tuesday, they beat Bradford Grammar School in a 20/20 match (by 12 runs), WGS 178- 7 with Arran Shipley scoring 54 not out and returning bowling figures of 4 - 29. BGS replied with 166 - 7.

Cricket at Wisbech Grammar School is moving forward positively throughout the School, with many talented players, both boys and girls, coming through who have no doubt been inspired by the 1st X1. I am very positive about the future of cricket at the School.

I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate the 1st X1 Cricket Team for the rare achievement of remaining unbeaten for the 2017 season.  We are very proud of our pupils and look forward to next year’s cricket season.

Nine of the side remain with us for next season. A big thank you must go to the Seniors, Captain Henry Thornton and Vice-Captain Alex Clabon, both of whom have bright futures ahead in cricket and we look forward to following their careers.

Neil Taylor
