The School’s teams, inspired by seeing ex-pupil Ali Price in the starting line-up for Scotland in their 29-13 win over Wales in the Six Nations, have been going from strength to strength.
Ex Wisbech Grammar School pupil, Ali Price has been chosen to start at scrum half for Scotland in the Calcutta Cup Match between England and Scotland at Twickenham on Saturday 11th March.
The springboard to Ali’s professional career was playing for Scottish Exiles. Current 5th Form pupil, George Lemon (King’s Lynn), follows that same path having played for the Exiles’ U16 team against Scotland in Newcastle on 25 February which ended in a closely fought 17-17 draw.
Other representative honours include Jack Trundley and George Lemon being selected for the Independent School’s National U16 side.
Alex Laybourne commenting on an exciting few weeks of Rugby at Wisbech Grammar said, “It has been a brilliant and promising start to the year for Rugby at Wisbech Grammar. Our teams’ hard work is paying off and I am delighted for both Jack and George who have done exceptionally well. They have worked hard to take their opportunities for representative selection and should be congratulated on their achievements, of which I am sure there will be plenty more both on the rugby field and off it."
