December has been a month of busy fundraising by pupils across the School in aid of their current designated charity: Scotty’s Little Soldiers.
Scotty’s Little Soldiers is a charity dedicated to supporting children & young people who have lost a parent whilst serving in the British Armed Forces.
Inspired by the experience of Army widow Nikki Scott following the death of her husband Cpl Lee Scott in Afghanistan in 2009, the charity is currently providing assistance to hundreds of bereaved Forces children around the UK.
Support offered to the children includes fun activities such as holiday breaks and group events, personal development assistance through educational grants and access to professional bereavement counselling. Their mission is to #HelpTheirChildrenSmile and this has become a WGS mission too!
In support of this fantastic cause, pupils held a raffle to win ‘Pud Pud’ the Teddy which was kindly donated by department store, John Lewis. The winner of the raffle was Prep 2 pupil Oliver.
To finish the fundraising event, pupils and staff donated £1 for #bobblehatday. Pupils across the School from Reception to 6th Form supported this worthy cause and got into the fundraising spirit of Christmas by wearing Christmas jumpers and bobble-hats.
