48 6th Form pupils and 7 members of the tutor team enjoyed a fantastic evening of fine food and dancing to celebrate the end of a very busy Michaelmas term.
Pupils arrived at the Skelton Hall which had been decorated during the day reflecting a red and green Christmas theme. As they arrived, pupils had their photographs taken by Mr Tim Chapman against a backdrop of the Christmas tree and balloon arch. Each table had been decorated with a mini Christmas tree and the whole hall looked very magical.
Guests enjoyed drinks and canapés before feasting on a roast chicken dinner followed by chocolate mousse, prepared by the amazing WGS catering staff. After their meal, pupils and staff made their way onto the dance floor and boogied the night away to the music provided by Nightlife Entertainment.
Following last year’s successful Michaelmas Ball there was no question that there would be a 2017 Ball! It truly was a fabulous evening and an excellent way for both pupils and staff to celebrate the end of term. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves and it seems like the 6th Form Michaelmas Ball is now somewhat of a WGS tradition; we are already looking forward to next year’s event!
The social events are a key part of life in the 6th Form at WGS and they help to build a really strong sense of community among both the pupils and staff. Plans for next term’s socials are already underway; the pupils have been planning an event as part of their Life Skills lessons and the winning group will be announced in January. Watch this space!
